Living lightly is a prophetic act, which undermines the foundations of materialism. But sometimes we need to go beyond individual actions, and join with others. Who will speak up for those with no voice – for the poor and for threatened wildlife? Who will shake society from its comfortable escapism? 24:1 is about God’s world, and sometimes God calls us to act locally and globally. Campaigning action is often a prophetic way of showing society where it needs to change.
